August reminds us summer is winding down, so folks got outside whenever they could. There were visits to Olbrich Gardens, Sassy Cow Creamery and an Upper Dells boat tour, plus happy hours and music on the patio, a wonderful outdoor bagpipe performance by the grandson of a resident and a Waunakee Big Band courtyard concert. There were delicious lunches at area restaurants, and apartment tenants celebrated the birthday of the potato chip with some hilarious games. Assisted living folks took a bus ride to some well-known spots in Iowa County and enjoyed a program by resident Jane about her trip to Thailand. Sister Georgeann Roudebush from SSM Health at Home Hospice gave an interesting presentation on dementia. Some of the folks knew her from the past, so it was also a wonderful opportunity to reconnect.
